Where’s the art? Wanda Zyborska will host this Collaboratory meeting, exploring what is socially engaged art and how does it relate to the purpose of Utopias Bach (with images).
Socially Engaged Art is widely regarded (in the art world) as the current Avant Garde, but what does it look like? Is the documentation the art? Is it any artefacts that might get made? Or is it the relations between groups of people?
How do you tell if it is any good? Is criticism elitist and divisive? Does it encourage ego and discourage creativity? Or does it help us learn and understand?
Our discussion will be in the spirit of playful exploration / embodied research, using and re-inventing some of the terms of art history.
The collaboratory will be in two parts (see also Saturday 29th January for part 2):
This Collaboratory will be over zoom.
